Character

A district, not one estate

Elviria lies along the A-7 east of Marbella, between Los Monteros and Río Real to the west and Cabopino to the east [1]. The road splits it into a beach side and a hill side [1].

It is not one estate. Dozens of urbanisations were built from the 1970s by many developers [1]. Quality and age vary by street, so the specific home matters more than the name [1].

Pockets include beachside schemes such as Marbesa, central Elviria by the shops, the Santa María golf communities, and Elviria Hills, La Mairena and El Soto higher up [1]. To the west it merges into Las Chapas and Hacienda Las Chapas [1,3].

Security depends on the urbanisation. Many are gated; older villa streets are open [1]. Price per m² to confirm.

Green & outdoors

Pines, dunes and Blue Flag beaches

Elviria is known for its protected umbrella pines and cork oaks [1]. Its beaches are Blue Flag rated: Playa de Elviria, El Alicate and La Víbora [1].

To the east, the protected Artola dunes and an old watchtower lead to Cabopino [1,2]. The hills above lie within a UNESCO biosphere reserve [1].

Golf

Golf, and serious tennis

Santa María Golf & Country Club has 18 holes; its clubhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse [1]. Greenlife and El Soto each have nine holes [1]. Río Real, Santa Clara and Cabopino are close [1].

The Rafa Nadal Tennis Center, on the grounds of the Don Carlos hotel, has seven clay courts and two padel courts [1].

Everyday life

A place that works all year

The Elviria commercial centre on the A-7 has supermarkets, banks, cafés and restaurants [1]. Many residents live here all year [1].

Beach clubs include Nikki Beach by the Don Carlos hotel [1]. El Lago, above Greenlife golf, holds a Michelin star [1].
