Character
A private estate in the hills
La Zagaleta is a private estate of about 900 hectares in the hills of Benahavís, inland from Marbella and San Pedro [1,3]. It was founded in 1990 on a former hunting estate [2,3].
Density is very low. There are about 400–420 plots across the estate [1,5]. Two entrances, North and South, are guarded around the clock [4,5]. Access is for residents and their guests only [1,4].
Villas are large and sit on big plots, most with views of the sea, the mountains or the golf courses [2,3]. Typical plot and villa sizes to confirm. Price per m² to confirm.
Green & outdoors
Woodland, valleys and deer
Most of the land is protected woodland, valleys and open countryside [3]. Deer are often seen on the courses [2].
Trails for walking, riding and cycling run across the estate [1,3]. From the higher points you see the sea, Gibraltar and Africa on clear days [4].
Golf & clubs
Two private courses, and more
There are two 18-hole courses: the Old Course and the New Course, which opened in 2005 [2]. Each has its own clubhouse [4]. Play is for residents and guests only [4].
The estate also has an equestrian centre, tennis and padel, a heliport and a social club [1,2,5].
