Character
An old address on the east side
Los Monteros lies on Marbella’s eastern coast, between the A-7 and the sea [1,3]. It is often called the best address east of town [5].
The hotel came first. Hotel Los Monteros, now Kimpton Los Monteros, made it one of Marbella’s early luxury addresses [3]. Homes followed, mostly from the 1970s [1].
Agents describe three markets. The frontline, with a short row of large villas on the sand. The beachside, with gated villa and apartment complexes between the frontline and the A-7. And the hill above the motorway, Los Altos de los Monteros, which has its own guide [1].
Los Monteros Playa is the best-known complex. It has about 60 apartments on the beach, with gardens, pools and 24-hour security [1].
Frontline villas rarely come to market [1]. Older homes are often bought to renovate or rebuild. Plot sizes to confirm. Price per m² to confirm.
Green & outdoors
Dunes and an open beach
The beach is wide, with soft golden sand and boardwalks. The dunes are protected [2,3]. The sea is usually calm and shallow [2].
This stretch has fewer buildings on the beach than most of the coast [2]. Streets are leafy, and many gardens are decades old [2,3].
Golf
Golf next door
Río Real Golf borders the area [2,5]. Santa Clara and Marbella Golf & Country Club are close by [4]. Tennis and padel are at the hotel’s racquet club [4].
Schools
International schools
There are no schools inside the area. Most are 10–20 minutes by car [3].
| School | By car | Curriculum |
|---|---|---|
| English International College (EIC), Ricmar | A few minutes | British, age 3 to A Level [1] |
| Deutsche Schule Málaga, Elviria | ~10–15 min | German [1,2] |
| Swans International School | ~15–20 min to confirm | British and IB [3] |
| British International School of Marbella | ~15–20 min to confirm | British [3] |
EIC was founded in 1978 and is selective, with entry by interview and assessment [1].
Everyday life
Quiet streets, a short drive to everything
Los Monteros is residential. Shops, clinics and gyms are in nearby El Rosario, Elviria and Marbella town [2].
The beach club La Cabane, run with Dolce&Gabbana, is a few steps from the hotel [4]. Fish restaurants and beach bars line the coast [5].
Marbella’s main public hospital is nearby [5]. Buyers are often families who live here all year [2].
