Character

A country club in a valley

The estate fills its own valley north of the AP-7 motorway. The golf course runs along the valley floor. Villas sit on the slopes around it, looking over the fairways or south to the sea [3,4].

It is small and villa-led. There are no apartment blocks inside the gates [3,4]. Internal roads are private, so traffic is almost only residents and guests [4].

It belongs to the same group as the Marbella Club Hotel on the Golden Mile, founded in 1954 by Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe [3,7]. Agents report that residents get privileged access to the hotel’s beach club, restaurants and spa. Current terms to confirm [3].

Neighbours: La Zagaleta to the east, Los Arqueros to the south [5]. Houses range from Andalusian country villas to contemporary builds [3,4].

Green & outdoors

Very green, and very quiet

Forested hills rise on three sides. Planting is mature: cork oak, wild olive, pine and Mediterranean scrub. A lake sits at the centre of the course [3].

Riders can follow the Cañada Real, a protected drovers’ path through the Benahavís hills [7]. The Río Guadalmina routes, with natural pools and waterfalls, are close by [5].

The equestrian centre has hosted the Spanish Show Jumping Championships. It offers lessons, competition training and countryside treks [2].

Golf

On site, and plenty more nearby

Los Flamingos, 10–15 minutes by car, is home to the Anantara Villa Padierna Palace, a five-star hotel [16]. Its golf club, Villa Padierna Golf Club, has three 18-hole courses: Flamingos, Alferini and Tramores [15].
